Colombia

The Work of Mita arrived in Colombia in 1970 through Teresita Lenis, who had heard the message of the Congregation in New York. She spoke to Colombian friends and neighbors about this good news of salvation and how the Holy Spirit was raising up His Work under the name of Mita. Among the people she spoke to, was the Alvear family. On October 25, 1970, Aarón sent the first evangelists to the city of Cali and Buga to officially establish these congregations and bring the message to souls. The worker Ismael Soto was in charge of this group.

On February 12, 1971, Aarón arrived on Colombian lands and held the first service in the Junin neighborhood of the city of Buga. Hundreds of people joined the Congregation. On that first trip, the first worker of Colombian nationality, Esperancita Alvear, is anointed. The message quickly began to spread through the main Colombian cities: Bogotá, Facatativá, Madrid, Medellín, Buenaventura, Pereira, Chocó, Palmira, Cartagena, Barranquilla, Tumaco, among others. In 1975 Aarón sent the first musical instruments and Luis Germán Suárez arrived from Puerto Rico to form the first bands in the cities of Buga and Cali.

Today there are about 20 bands, which have stood out for their excellent participation in local and international events. In 1977 a big temple was inaugurated in the city of Cali, which is the headquarters of the Congregation in this nation.

In the 1980s and 1990s, temples were inaugurated in the cities of Buenaventura, Buga, Bogotá, Medellín, Facatativá, Quimbaya, Pereira, among others.

Currently, we have more than 120 congregations and thousands of souls have embraced this Work with faith, testifying to the beautiful transformation that God has made in their lives.

TESTIMONIES OF HEALINGS

In 1975, a great testimony occurred with Sister María Stella Sánchez, who was given up by doctors due to terminal cancer that had her bedridden. At that time, having a telephone line was very difficult, and it was precisely at María Stella's house where many of the neighbors used to go to make calls. One day, Bertha Bolaños goes to make a call and tells María that she has a cousin who knew a church where the sick people were healed. María was interested and Bertha contacted her cousin Sofía Bolaños. The latter communicated with the workers Porfirio Rosado, Felipe Cuero, and Ernesto Sterling, who visited María on June 15, 1975, prayed for her and God healed her.

In 1976, in the town of Fontibón, Bogotá, a service was to be held with Aarón present. A brother named Silvio arrived in a wheelchair since he had not been able to walk for years. Seeing him, Aarón approached him, placed his hands on his head, and commanded him in a strong voice to get up and walk. The brother, full of faith, got up and walked out without help.
