Main Temple

Located at Calle Duarte #203 (Puerto Rico)

The growth and expansion of the work of Mita made it necessary to build a new structure to house the thousands of faithful This new temple —inaugurated in November 1990— was in charge of the firm Montilla & Látimer and has capacity for more than 6,000 people inside. Its structure is neoclassical and does not pass unnoticed by those who pass through Hato Rey. Just a few steps from the temple opened in 1960, the new temple It is located at Calle Duarte #203. It has:

Air conditioner
Elevators up to the fifth level
Reclining cushioned chairs
Modern acoustic, lighting and audiovisual facilities
Restrooms and ramps for wheelchairs
Nursery for the care of children during religious services
Emergency exits
First aid office
Impressive stained glass windows depicting the star of Bethlehem and the dove, symbol of the Holy Spirit of God

The temple comprises a space 240 feet long by 190 feet wide and took almost three years to build. Various fundraising activities were carried out to make this monumental project possible, without having to resort to asking anyone for money or making any loans. Aaron, spiritual leader at that time, expressed that the same God who guides his church day by day and makes its overwhelming growth and expansion possible, had given us this new temple in which together we are in communion with the Lord. Aaron added: "Now, the same God that made possible the construction of a large ark to gather the souls that would be saved in the times of Noah, made possible the construction of this temple".

Hundreds of members of the Congregation collaborated in its construction, directed by Ismael Díaz, who was the Foreman. It should be noted that Aarón was working day after day, tirelessly, for the achievement of this dream; he laid tiles, painted, filled concrete columns and laid blocks. The architect Federico Montilla, together with his partner Russell E. Látimer, was in charge of the design and supervision of the project. Montilla with great admiration exclaimed: «The great importance that must be highlighted here is that we are talking about a temple, a church, a important situation within the Puerto Rican culture, a work for a lifetime. The impression that the same cause is extremely important, since it is a monument to the Holy Spirit and which was inaugurated when it turned 50 of the Mita Church». Montilla added: "Our biggest challenge, like every professional, was to produce the best work possible, since we were facing a historic commitment to Aaron, who is a man for history, and a challenge with the Mita. It had to be a well-thought-out work, since the people of Puerto Rico are going to have the opportunity to not only see it on the outside, but contemplate and enjoy it on the inside; that's why we gave great importance to the structure interior, giving emphasis to the parishioners and people who visit it.
